It seems like yesterday that I was doing the maternity pictures for this gorgeous couple!

And then I had the privilege of taking pictures of their beautiful baby girl!

So when I got the chance to do their family photos I was so excited to see them again! This family is just gorgeous and they have two of the sweetest kiddos that I have had the pleasure of working with!!

I can't wait to see y'all again!!

An Awesome End to 2011

Oops~ I sooo meant to blog this session earlier but you know how the holiday season can be! Thanks to all of my amazing clients it was a truly great year and this was such a cool way to finish it! This session was a gift from daughter to mom for Christmas~ they hadn't had family pictures done....ever~ you know how hard it is to get everyone together! I had so much fun with them, they had me laughing the whole time!!

By the way, thank you again to Willow Lake Gardens for the amazing backdrop!! Y'all are fantastic!!

Boys Being Boys

It has been dark and cloudy and rainy here for a couple of days so I wanted to share this super fun and colorful session! These boys were absolutely adorable and the grandparent's yard made me want to be 8 again!! We had a blast and they certainly kept me on my toes!!

I had the best time the other afternoon photographing this great couple and the beautiful and curious Lucy! We went out to Willow Lake Gardens in Weatherford and Mother Nature did not disappoint in the color department!! Lucy had a great time exploring and playing in the leaves ~ some of the piles were as big as she was!
I am so thankful for my amazing clients~ what a great year!!

Fun Fall Family

Just a quick note to say that I am SO loving this fall!! I have been so blessed with some of the most fun clients and such amazing settings in which to shoot!
The other day I got to spend some time with this super fun family~ I laughed the whole session! And the amazing colors out at Willow Lake Gardens were just amazing~ even if it was overcast and damp and cold!

Dog Days of Summer

Soooo~ I am obviously really bad at keeping up with this blog!! What can I say, I just don't get that many chances to sit still for long enough!! The kids are back in school now so I have a little more time~ I will try to do better!!!!!

I had one of my favorite shoots to date the other day~ a client's "little girl" and boy was she a beauty!! It was hot, I mean HOT~ like 137...ok, more like 103 but if felt every bit of 137 but she was a trooper! I think she would have played till she dropped if we had let her!

What a blast!! Did I mention it was HOT?? When the weather finally cools down a little and the beautiful fall colors come in we are going to take her to the lake and play some more!!

I really really love my job!!!

Holy Cow~ I can't believe how long it has been since I have posted here!! I have been so busy getting photos out that I haven't taken the tim to stop by lhere and share! BUT Ms. E was so amazingly fun to photograph I had to share her here~ this girl is gorgeous and she is as down to earth as she is beautiful!!
She shows her cow, loves her animals and has such a shining spirit she was a total joy to work with! We took off on her 4-wheeler in search of pretty light and I had a great time!!
I will just share just a couple~ she was soooo photogenic~ I don't think this girl could take a bad picture!!!

I SO love my job!!

Christmas Cards 2010

I have been so busy this season designing Christmas cards that I haven't had a chance to post any of them!! I have designed a set for a very special family that I want to share and there are a couple more designs in the works that I will share in the next couple of days!
Quick disclaimer~ the photos in the card example are just a quick couple of my kids, the family wanted their cards to be a surprise to their family and friends!

There are so many more designs and I will be posting them as I finish resizing them! Between shooting the mini-sessions and designing I just haven't had much time for posting!

Time is running out to get card orders in and I only have 3 mini-session slots left open so if you are wanting to get in on the Christmas Card special be sure to give me a call! Otherwise I will see you after the first of the year!!!

Holy Pumpkin Guts, Batman!!

I love this time of year~ I may have mentioned that 2 or 3 hundred times lately, but I really really do! It inspires me~ all the gorgeous colors and the cool weather just makes me so happy and inspires me. One of my favorite things in the fall is the smell of a campfire and I was lucky enough this year to have had my fantastic hubby make me this amazing fire pit!!!! Sooo, after we carved pumpkins last night we had the inaugural fire in the fire pit and roasted WAY more marshmallows than we should have!! What a blast!

I love fall! The cool crisp mornings and the gorgeous not-blistering afternoons! We were so enjoying the weather last weekend and I decided to snap some pics of my kids just being them~ so many times I get caught up in creating the perfect setting and thinking of everything as a shoot that I forget to just have fun. We had a blast!!

I had the best time with this little one out at the new and improved Holland Lake Park! There are some really great spaces out there and I think we explored all of them. I thought I'd share some of my favorites of the day~ I hope you enjoy them half as much as I enjoyed taking them!!

I couldn't believe how well behaved he was and he had such a great attention span for such a little guy. His brown eyes were just sparkling with curiosity and joy ~ we had a ball throwing sticks and then he decided to go on an ant stomping spree....what fun!

Spring Presents!!!

Wow! I can't believe how long it's been since I have last blogged! Bad bad bad me. Time flies!

I also can't believe it is Spring~ I am so looking forward to the longer (and warmer!) days. The grass is so green thanks to all the rain and the flowers are getting ready to bloom~ this has to be my all-time favorite time of the year to take pictures outside (go figure :)) In honor of Spring, all sessions booked on or before April 30 will receive as a gift a gorgeous Accordion Mini-Album~ actually you will receive 3, one to keep for yourself and two for friends, grandparents, etc. These little albums are the perfect "take along" size to show off your adorable little ones or your beautiful family anytime! Recently I was lucky enough to work with a great woman and amazing seamstress and designer who runs an online site called Tazetta.com. She sent me a wonderful sundress that she designed and asked if I would photograph Lilly wearing it- it was gorgeous to say the least and Lilly loved the dress!!

Summer's Over

Wow- I can't believe how long it's been since I have posted to this blog!! The summer really got away from me- I kept the shooting schedule light and really made my kids the priority this summer and it was amazing!! This is the first summer that I have really been able to take off and hang with my kids and we had so much fun- lots of horses and lots of swimming!

Horse Camp

This week I have taken time off from my day job to help with my friend's horse day camp at Alamo Stables in Weatherford- we have had the best time!! I want to share some pictures of what these great girls have been up to- we have worked so hard on getting them in tune with their horses. We have worked on saddling and bitting, on walking trotting and loping and today we worked on halter and showmanship- what a great group of girls we have!
I will be posting more pics soon- these are from the first day- I can't wait for you to see the progress these girls have made!!

There are so many more to follow- but right now I just want to take a bath!

Playing in the rain!

I had the best time on Saturday!! We were supposed to do this session outside in the park BUT Mother Nature had other plans and we woke up to drizzle and just all around yuck! Luckily, the fabulous Antiques on the Square in Weatherford allowed us to use their awesome 3rd floor where the light is wonderful!! When we were done up there we shot a few on the street by the bank and even braved the weather back at the park- where we managed to call it quits just before the sky opened up and it started to pour!! Ms. Kitsy looked like a princess and I didn't want her to be drooping for prom so we called this one short but I hope to get her back into the dress so we can get some more shots in her princess gown!

This was one of my favorite sessions ever!! This girl has the best sense of humor and such a geat spirit~ I look so forward to shooting her again!

I had a wonderful afternoon the other day~ I had the opportunity to hang out with a great couple and their wonderful new baby boy. Did I say wonderful? I meant adorable, scrumptious, and oh so yummy and soft newborn baby boy!! Oh, I was just drinking in the newborn smells and sounds~ almost made me want another one! (Until, of course, Lilly was yelling "Mommy" from just inside the door at the top of her lungs!- Remind me to thank her later for bringing me to my senses!) But oh, the sweetness of a newborn!!! Briggs Family~ The Littlest Heroes Project shoot

I had the privilege of spending part of the day with the Briggs family at Trinity Park the other day and we had such a great time! They are the sweetest family (and they have great style!) with two adorable kids! Little Kendall is such a trooper and Kamden seems like an awesome big brother~ he can really make her laugh! My Traveling Pants ~ Downtown Weatherford Shoot

Here is just a teeny sneak peek from this shoot~ I had the best time!! I could spend all day chasing these two (plus Lilly and a little wrangling from their older cousin!) around York street! What a blast! The only downside is that I couldn't make myself stop taking pictures...

So, here are just a few- I will post the rest as soon as they are finished. And no, these aren't "the best" from the session- there are so many I couldn't decide which ones to start with so they were pretty much just randomly picked... so I guess you could say the best is yet to come!!!

Downtown Mini-Shoot

Ok, so if you know me you know that one of my HUGE weaknesses is clothes and my fave clothes to buy are for Lilly. There is an awesome little children's consignment store in downtown Weatherford~ My Traveling Pants ~ that has the greatest upscale resale clothes! I love it and am there usually about once a week! They only take really great quality clothes and concentrate on the boutique brands. They are now also selling some new clothes that are amazing....including brands such as Mis Tee V-Us!! Lilly and I went down the other day and had a little mini shoot using some of their clothes- we had a fantastic time and are planning more next week. Downtown is a great place to shoot with so many old buildings and I hope to do many client sessions down there this spring.

Come on Spring!!!

I am SO ready for spring to get here!! I can't wait to get out and start taking pictures in the green grass of the pasture with all of the pretty leaves and blooms on the trees. I have been slowly stocking up on some fabulous dresses, tutus, pettiskirts and other fun things to play dress up with and I am so looking forward to photographing all of these kiddos as they play! I am already booking for May with only a couple of spots left open in April~ so excited!!

Check out the newest dress I have gotten in- I can't wait to see it against the gorgeous colors of spring! It is a size 4- I think it will work for girls between 2 and 5.

What little girl wouldn't LOVE this dress!! the hard part is keeping Lilly out of it!

I am also in the process of finishing my office/studio on the square so I will be offering studio photos very soon. The fun part of shooting in my studio is the area around it- when we are done indoors we can go outside around the cute little shops and great old buildings and do more urban type photos! I will be taking Lilly downtown this week to take some pics so I will post them here when we are done.

This is going to be a really exciting spring and I can't wait to share it with all of you!

Bad Bad ME!!

WOW! The fact that I haven't blogged in this long is really stunning to me!! Where in the world have the weeks gone?!?

We have been working like crazy planning a new studio space- used to be my office but I think it is going to be an amazing studio to do some fun indoor stuff as well as a good base to get some great shots around downtown Weatherford. Stay tuned- I will post pictures of the new space as soon as we get the great floors down.

The colder weather has kept me indoors the last couple of months so I have been playing around with some really fun different textures and techniques. Here are a couple of pictures that I have done with the new textures:

I LOVE this new texture~ it is a tulle veil and it is just so delicate and girly!

These are so much fun to do~ almost like painting with all of the layers and working parts in and erasing back others. It's an addiction!!

I will be sending out emails in the next couple of weeks with detail of a spring special we will be running and hopefully we will have the studio space done by then as well! So many fun things!!

div>Wow- I have no idea how this new year snuck up on me but here it is and now I have to learn how to write a whole new date! I really feel like it was just barely 2008-I just can't understand why it is that the more you need to get done the faster the time goes!!

I know that I've been a very neglectful blogger and while I'd like to say that my New Year's resolution is to blog more regularly, I just can't- see, I never keep my resolutions so that would just be setting me up for failure! Instead, I'm just going to take it one day at a time!! So what that it's only taken me 15 days into the New Year to start...better late than never, huh??

I thought that I would post a couple of my personal pics that I took over the holiday season while I was officially "on vacation" from working and shooting purely for the fun of it!

I really do love fall with all of the gorgeous colors and the mild temperatures... most of the time! Friday night was so pretty but the wind was blowing so hard that it was really no fun to be out taking pictures but we toughed it out and they were such good sports! What a way to spend a Sunday!!

I had the opportunity to spend last Sunday with a great family ~ we had so much fun picking out just the right outfits for Miss A to model... and model she did!! This girl should SO be in print- a complete natural and she is so sweet, too. Miss A climbed and skipped and twirled, all the while laughing and posing like she's been modeling for years. Ahhh, I LOVE this job!!

On another note~ I will be posting this year's Christmas card designs shortly. I will be having shorter Christmas Card sessions- the session fee for these will be $75 and that includes a package of 25 cards (flat 5x7, one sided or for an an additional $15 folded 5x7 – there are also other sizes available for additional cost). These sessions are filling up fast so be sure to book soon. The cards usually take about a week from the time they are submitted to the lab so keep that in mind when booking.

SO I was lucky enough to spend the morning with two of the cutest kids I have seen! They were both so much fun and we had a great time playing everything from tea part to horses.... it's mornings like that that I give thanks for getting to do what I do!
Unfortunately, the day went a little downhill from there- I stepped wrong off of our stairs and broke my foot. Uggg- who has time for this?!?!? I left the ER with crutches and a splint- of course the crutches just really don't fit into my life so I was forced to make do without them and today am taking it easy trying to get ready for my 3 shoots on Saturday!
Ok, enough about me and my gracefulness... on to the precious Lexi and Jace~

Ok, well maybe it was more like evening so it wasn't actually dark and it wasn't really storming so much as thundering in the distance, but we did have some really great clouds! My friend Darcey (hi Darcey Looo!!) and her handsome son Rob and gorgeous daughter Amanda came over and we had a great time taking Amanda's pictures with the thunder providing some great background noise. I tried to snap a few of Rob but he was camera shy (I did get a cute one of the two of them- I will post it soon!).

In an attempt to keep things interesting I have been exploring non-portrait photography and I must say that while I don't love it nearly as much as people, I am really enjoying the landscapes lately. The colors in nature never cease to amaze me and it is so much fun capturing the miracle of reds and purples and yellows in my own backyard.

ok- so this one is more like a portrait~ this guy is Mr Personality- Cody, our herd sire ( well there isn't exactly a herd yet but we are confidante that as soon as he knows what to do he will get to work on that) We love this guy!!

Custom Christmas cards are here! These are all custom created photo cards printed with your favorite photo(s) from your session.I have been having so much fun with these! I am constantly working on designs but I wanted to get a couple of examples posted :

The first one is a traditional 5x7 one sided card:

This one is a double sided 5x5 card in red and gold:

and another 5x5 double sided card (I really love this size card!):

There are so many more on the way, including my favorites- the 5x5 trifold with 6 panels for maximum picture placement!

All of these cards are professionally printed and come with envelopes. The photos are printed on the actual cards (instead of the slide-in kind).

Also, although it is in the 100's outside, it is time for me to start thinking about the upcoming holiday season. Drama~ the fun kind

So apparently both of my children have inherited a touch of the dramatic. My mom would swear that they get it from me but I am still in denial... Wherever they got it from, they both definitely got a heaping dose of it.
Both kids love to dress up in costumes~ the store bought halloween kind will do but the best ones and the ones that are the most entertaining for me are the ones that they come up with themselves. For example:
Here he was dressed up as an agent~ no, he didn't specify what kind or who he was working for, but then what good agent does??

Here he is dressed up as an Israeli paratrooper: (the costume was brought back from Israel by his Gigi and the wings are from a friend of ours in the Israeli Air Force)

Indiana Jones. His Gigi bought him that hat and he wears it all the time!!

His sister also enjoys the occasional venture into the dramatic. Thankfully her costumes run to the more whimsical- heavy on the tutus with a tiara thrown in every once in a while. She's loved dressing up since she was able to , well, dress up...

This was some sort of reindeer fairy~ you know, a pink tutu never fails to beat the mid-winter blues!!

Ok, this one isn't so much of a costume as it is accessorized :

Dressed as Fancy Nancy with her fancy Nancy doll, compliments of her Gigi (I'm seeing a trend here- maybe the drama is from Gigi as much as from me???)
Sometimes they warm their mommy's heart and play TOGETHER! This was my all time favorite~ Lilly and I had been out in the pasture taking pics when Garrett came out in his armor holding his sword and announced "Every princess needs a knight" and it was on...

Addicted to textures

I really love taking pictures and I really love the process of using photoshop to being to life the scene as I saw it. I know that there are different schools of thought on whether or not photoshopping digital photos is the same as dark room developing~ I'm not going to get into all of the arguments here because this is MY blog so I will just tell you that I believe that some form of post processing is necessary to complete the digital picture. Just as it takes a certain amount of skill in the darkroom to bring out the best possible photo from a negative, so too does it take a certain amount of skill in photoshop or some other processing program to faithfully reproduce what it was that the photographer saw through his viewfinder. Whew- with all that said, sometimes it is fun to play with pictures and to heck with the faithful representation!! Lately I have been completely addicted to textures- different patterns and colors. It has been fun to play~ almost like a painting or a collage. I would really like to find a place for this type of work in my photog business but I am not sure how to work them in. Until I find exactly where I want these to fit I will keep playing and maybe inspiration will follow!

Petti in the Pasture

Lilly told me the other night that she wanted to put her brown skirt on and take pictures!!! It took mere seconds for me to pick my jaw up off of the ground and grab my camera and off we went. I had gotten this GREAT new chair a couple of days before so we loaded up the Gator and away we went!!

There are parts of our pasture that are really magical in the evening light so we braved the tall grass (ok, she had boots on~ I had flip flops... I braved the tall grass to get to the cool spots. I will spare you most of the narrative and just post some pics................................

Then it was off to another magical spot where Lilly showed me how the big girls pose.........

Oh Lord~ we are SO not ready for her to get any older!!

Gone Baby Gone

Wow~ so I am already a neglectful blogger.... big shock there!!! Things have been kind of crazy around here lately with summer activities and all.

The biggest event in our lives lately was packing baby boy off to camp- I've never actually had an arm chopped off but I am pretty sure that it is more fun than leaving your baby at a place full of kids he doesn't know, knowing that you will have no contact with him for an entire week!! What was I thinking????!!!???

His couselor's name is Hot Fresh and Cheesy~ they all have nicknames and part of the fun is finding out the story behind them. Cheesy got his nickname because, get this, he likes American Cheese on his donuts!!! Now, I am not ever one to disparage American Cheese but donuts are possibly the one food that I WOULD NOT adorn with cheese... but I'm not judging!! Another funny thing~ Cheesy is actually from a small town in Alabama very near where Grant's grandparents lived and where he spent many of his best summers thus endearing him to Father Bear!!

Pine Cove is an awesome camp~ part of my life for many of my formative years so
I know that he is going to have an amazing time, but come on people~ web cams or something would be nice!! So far I have held on to the *transactions are pending on this account when I log into his camp store account as proof of his well being- if he is shopping he must be ok!

I was so proud of my baby as he stoically hugged us goodbye and walked into the swimming pool amongst the throng of kids and jumped on in.... WAY TO GO!!

I know that he is having a blast but I have to admit that I am VERY ready to bring my baby home~ I may be camping outside the gates of camp when they open Saturday morning!!

I LOVE Summer!!

OK~ can I just tell you how much I love this time of year? The kids have been having so much fun playing outside and swimming, all my flowers are blooming and it is just SO green!

Since the kids are already in a playful mood it is so much easier to get the fun shots- Lilly and Garrett decided that spraying each other with water just wasn't enough so they resorted to paint!

Lilly joined her brother in the pasture the other day for a rousing game of tackle frisbee in her dress and heels- hey, a girl's gotta be prepared for anything!!

These days are just made for dozing!!

Yep~ this is about the perfect time of year-still a cool breeze in the mornings, even the afternoons aren't too bad and everyone wants to be outside...so off I go. Bye bye!

And we're off!!!

This may be harder than I think~ but then, it may be easier than I have built it up in my head to be. I have been putting off beginning this blog because I really wasn't sure what to say. As an avid stalker of many other amazing blogs, I must say I am a little intimidated but, rebel that I am here I go throwing caution to the wind and ....gasp...typing my first blog post!! Next thing you know I'll be running with scissors!

I think that I will leave things at this tonight and plan to write all the really interesting stuff tomorrow. Maybe something really interesting will happen between now and then to write about!!
